sebastiao salgado keeps on inspiring me for the last months. just recently i went to the exhibition of his masterpiece GENESIS in berlin wich is worth a visit until 16.08.15 in CO BERLIN.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

the last 10 years, salgado traveled in 32 journeys to the regions of the world that are still intact, untouched by human society and pure. he documented climatic extreme places, animal wildlife far away from civilization, as well as ethnic minorities and there way of living.

the result is large format black and white picture series. the strong appeal of his photographs is due to the calm compositions made up of clear structure and forms.

but not only his photos are impressive also the message that stands behind is something i love about it.

as well as displaying the beauty of nature, GENESIS is also a call to arms. we can not continue polluting our soil, water and air. we must act now to preserve unspoiled land and seascapes and protect the natural sanctuaries of ancient people and animals.

and we can go further: we can try to reverse the damage we have done.

wim wenders made the awesome movie salt of the earth about  sebastiao salgados biography and his work. it is a beautiful documentary about  the life of a great photographer who is on a great mission. well worth watching.
